Saving Faith is Obedient Faith
Discussion & Study
——————————–
James 1:22-25; 2:17-20, 26 - John 14:15, 21, 23-24 - Hebrews 10:36 - Romans 1:5; 16:25-27
I. True Faith Obeys (vs. 21)
1) Why won’t Jesus save everyone who calls Him ‘Lord, Lord’?
Many, many people who call Jesus ‘Lord’ will be in Hell! Why?
2) Why is obedient faith not the same as salvation by works?(Eph 2:8-9; Jam 2:17-20, 26; Rom 1:5) If works aren’t good enough to save us, how will obedience help?
II. Jesus Must Know You (vs. 23)
3) Why does Jesus tell these to ‘depart from me’?
Is it enough to believe in God and claim to ‘know’ Him?
4) What type of ‘know’ is Jesus speaking of?
If Jesus ‘knows’ everything, what doesn’t He ‘know’?
III. The Gain of Obedient Faith (vs. 24-25)
5) What will become of the one who hears Jesus’ words and does them? (Jam 1:22-25; Heb 10:36; Rom 16:25-27)
6) What is the rock this house was built on?
IV. The Loss of Disobedient Non-Faith (vs. 26-27)
7) What will become of the one who hears but does nothing? (Jam 1:22-25; Jam 2:17-20, 26; John 14:24)
8 ) What will be this great fall when the storm hits?
*The best proof for saving faith is fruit of obedience. The best test is self-examination through God’s Word (2 Corinthians 13:5).
