Men of Saving Faith (Part 2)

Discussion Study Guide

Hebrews 11:8-10, 13-21 

Abraham – Genesis 12

Isaac and Jacob – Genesis 27

Jacob (
Israel) and Joseph’s Sons – Genesis 48

1.  Is your faith like Abraham’s that believes and obeys God, even/especially when your destination is uncertain? (verses 8-9)  Can you see from this verse how saving faith, belief in the promises of God, is unified by belief and obedience?

2.  What invisible promise motivated and sustained Abraham’s faith? (verse 10) Are you trusting and hoping in only things you can merely see, and touch?

3.  Abraham gave up so much (homeland, comfort, his familiarity, later his only beloved son) because he trusted in God completely and unwaveringly. If God calls you to do the same, will you trust Him with everything without fail or hesitation?

4.  Why should God be obeyed? Why don’t you obey God?

5.  Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him”. If you believe this verse, then why is “God not ashamed to be called their God”? (verse 16)

6.  Are you pleasing God? Is your faith one that gives God the utmost satisfaction? Do you have any desire to even draw near to Him?

Self-Examination (2 Cor 13:5) – Knowing, professing, confessing, thinking, pondering, musing, wondering, and praying to God are NOTHING to God! Unless you are doing and living them with Saving Faith that trusts in Him. Do you wanna see if you truly trust in Him? Look at your obedience and lifestyle: is their any proof at all in your life that you are trusting God more than you trust your self? You think you are more trustworthy than God? You think your word is more firm and true than God’s? You think you know what’s best more than God? If not, than stop living like it for God’s sake and yours!!
