Revival brings Rejoicing in God – Psalm 85
Revival only comes from God, by God, through God, and ultimately for God and His glory. This Sunday-Wednesday (May 12-16) at Friendship Baptist a revival has been scheduled. We must therefore lift up this time and prepare properly for God to move powerfully through and among His people. Revival is chiefly for God’s saved people, but also can lead to the salvation of more. So we must be in deep prayer and supplication asking for God to give life again to His children and restore to us the joy of our salvation (Psalm 51:12). And we must also pray that through this revival, that God will so move to draw more men to His side (John 6:44,65) regenerating their dead spirit (Ephesians 2:1-4).
Psalm 85 – Revive Us Again
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of the Sons of Korah.
85:1 Lord, you were favorable to your land;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people;
you covered all their sin. Selah
3 You withdrew all your wrath;
you turned from your hot anger.
4 RESTORE us again, O God of our salvation,
and put away your indignation toward us!
5 Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
6 Will you not REVIVE us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us your salvation.
8 Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints;
but let them not turn back to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
and righteousness looks down from the sky.
12 Yes, the Lord will give what is good,
and our land will yield its increase.
13 Righteousness will go before him
and make his footsteps a way.
If we have not joy in God, if we cannot rejoice in Him, are we even saved? Genuine spiritual revival happens when the Holy Spirit regenerates a sinner to repentance and faith OR when a disobedient Christian is restored to obedience and repentance to renew his/her joy in God. It’s about treasuring Christ!
See Psalm 51 (David’s repentance toward God) about the restoration of a Christian to God-exalting joy in Him.

Amen! Those who are genuinely saved and have been regenerated will rejoice in God. If they are not rejoicing in God, either they aren’t saved or need to repent and get back to their first love. Disobedient Christians will be chastened by God, and those who are blinded and hate God need to be regenerated. Only those who are in Christ will treasure Him. Amen Brother Josh
